The Moritzburg Festival, under the artistic direction of the cellist Jan Vogler, is one of the most significant chamber music festivals in the world. Launched in 2006, the Moritzburg Festival Academy under the direction of violinist Mira Wang enjoys a reputation as a place of excellence delivering focused musicality and inspirational creativity at their highest. Every year, young musicians from all over the world are chosen to participate in the Academy and form the international Moritzburg Festival Orchestra under the direction of chief conductor Josep Caballé Domenech.
All participants benefit from a full scholarship and from the guidance of internationally renowned Festival soloists who give an essential impulse to their artistic development in the idyllic setting of the Moritzburg Castle.
Alongside orchestral work, chamber music plays an important role at the Academy as well. Internationally renowned Moritzburg Festival Artists work on chamber music with the participants. Besides the orchestra performances within the Moritzburg Festival and on tour, one highlight will thus be the Long Night of Chamber Music on the terrace of the Moritzburg Castle where the talented youngsters can present themselves in many different ensembles.
