    The International Aeolus Competition for Wind Instruments has firmly established itself as a worldwide recognized stage for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone and Tuba. It takes place once a year in Düsseldorf since 2006.

    Each year three of the Instrument groups are opened for competition: 2023 the competition calls for Trombone, Trumpet and Tuba. The total prize money is € 60,000, the first prize wins € 20,000.

    The 2023 Competition is open to young soloists of all nationalities born on or after January 1st, 1995.

    Please complete your CV in your profile and check whether you have provided information on previous participation in music competitions, prizes and scholarships, etc., as this information is mandatory.

    b) Henry Dutilleux: Chorale Cadence et Fugato

    Stepjan Šulek: Sonata


    Second Round to last not longer than 30 minutes (It must be ensured that the total length of the selected works does not exceed 30 minutes)

    a) Launy Grøndahl: Concerto

    b)Johann Georg Albrechtsberger: Concerto

    c) A contemporary solo piece of own choice composed after 1980, an own composition is possible


    Third Round, to last not longer than 30 minutes

    a) Frank Martin: Ballade

    or

    Guy Ropartz: Stück in es-moll

    b) Timothy Higgins: Concerto

    or

    Henri Tomasi: Concerto

    Nino Rota: Concerto


    Please notice:

    The concerto of Ferdinand David and Nino Rota, as well as pieces of Henry Dutilleux, Stepjan Šulek be performed by heart. For the required pieces the jury reserves the right to hear them whole or excerpts thereof.
