The Allegra Festival and Academy team is excited to announce the second edition of the Allegra International Competition for Violin and Cello. Eligible for participation are violin and cello players of any nationality born before July 18th, 2006 (16+).
Due to high interest in the Allegra International Competition, this year we are also opening a Youth division for violin and cello players born between April 10, 2004 and April 10, 2014 competing in three categories.

Applicants are required to submit a link to a video recording (please consult the Video Requirements section under Rules) of a freely chosen program between 15 and 20 minutes long as part of their application. Deadline for submission: April 18th, 2022, 18:00 CET.
Contestants will be informed individually by e-mail of the results, which will also be made publicly available on the Allegra website no later than April 30st, 2022, 18:00 CET.
A maximum of 20 contestants will be admitted to the second round. They will be required to submit a link to a video recording (please consult the Video Requirements section under Rules) of a program not exceeding 20 minutes no later than May 20, 2022, 18:00 CET.
The repertoire for this round will be once more freely chosen, but the program must include at least one of the Required works from the Repertoire list.
Contestants will be informed individually by e-mail of the results, which will also be made publicly available on the Allegra website no later than May 31st, 2022, 18:00 CET.
Third and Final Round
A maximum of 3 participants will be admitted to the Final Round which will be part of the eighth season of Allegra Festival and Academy. This round will take place in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia on July 17th, 2022, in the form of a concert which will be open to the public. Travel allowance, as well as accompanists will be provided.
Contestants prepare and perform a freely chosen program of up to 40 minutes in duration, which must include at least one piece of the Required solo works, as well as ONLY one chamber music piece from the Required works in the Repertoire list.
Information about categories A, B and C:
Eligible for participation are Violin and Cello players of all nationalities born between April 10, 2004 and April 10, 2014. To make the competition as attractive as possible and to allow young people from all over the world to enter the competition, judging will be based on the submitted by the candidates’ video recordings.
Age categories at the time of the registration deadline of April 10, 2022:
Category A: 8 – 11 years
Category B: 12 – 14 years
Category C: 15 – 18 years
