With programmes focused on education and the development of talent, it invests in the future of classical music. The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra is, along with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, part of Stichting Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest.

We are looking for a versatile colleague who ensures excellent performances on (inter)national concert stages and at the opera whilst mastering a broad repertory. You have a professional and flexible work ethic and radiate enthusiasm on every stage. As a member of the orchestra, you will also contribute to our educational projects and social activities. All employees have a talent for harmonious teamwork and possess good communication skills. Foreign colleagues are expected to become proficient in the Dutch language within a short timeframe.

Alongside their musical responsibilities, section principals make an active contribution to the management of the orchestra. They lead sectional rehearsals, encourage a collegial working relationship with the section and between the other sections and are also the link between individual players and management.

Percussionists play for the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and for the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, according to the requirements of the operas or concert works to be performed.

    Audition and selection

The main audition for the two positions of principal percussion will be held on November 6. A pre-audition will be organized on November 5. Some percussionists will be invited to play on November 5 to qualify for the main audition on November 6. Other percussionists will be invited to participate directly in the main audition without the pre-audition round.

During the main audition on November 6 the artistic selection takes place. At a time to be determined later an interview takes place regarding the candidate’s affinity with the NedPhO|NKO to establish whether knowledge, skills and personality match the demands of the job. Based on this, a recommendation will be made to the management. The selection committee reserves the right to make a pre-selection based on written information.

Date of commencement of employment for the mentioned position will be decided by mutual agreement. The salary is in accordance with the national regulations of Dutch Orchestras, which you can find on www.vvno.nl , the website of the association of Dutch Orchestras.
