"The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra is one of Europe’s top orchestras."

The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1918. Lahav Shani is chief conductor since the 2018-2019 season. Valery Gergiev and Yannick Nézet-Séguin are honorary conductors of the orchestra. Every year the orchestra gives over 100 concerts, ranging from appearances in Rotterdam to major foreign tours, for audiences totalling more than 150,000. The orchestra’s ambition is to bring symphonic music to as broad a public as possible. In addition, the orchestra focuses on adventurous and innovative projects. The orchestra is based in Rotterdam. For our orchestra we are looking for talented, flexible and committed musicians who work with joy in a changing environment.

After the closing date there is a pre-selection based on the information provided. Approximately one week after the closing date, applicants receive an invitation or rejection.

Based on Dutch law we can only invite musicians from an EEA country (incl. Switzerland) or musicians who are permitted to work in the Netherlands for more than three months (in that case a copy of the work permit is required).

When you are invited, the orchestral excerpts become visible. On the day of the audition you are welcome an hour before the starting time of the pre-round or half an hour before the first round and are given the opportunity to prepare for the audition.

The pre-round is without piano accompaniment. The starting time of the final round can change based on the number of attendees.

For any questions you can mail to or contact Ms M. van Zelst, Orchestra Personnel Manager, tel: 00 31 10 2171713.
